On Sunday, we visited the recently launched Rosewood Slow Food and Living Market in the grand inner courtyard of the Rosewood Hotel, High Holborn. The market recreates the traditional marketplace experience and is endorsed by Slow Food UK.
The Executive chef of the Rosewood, Amandine Chaignot is at the helm of the market, and explains "Slow Food is a way of life. It's food that's sustainable, local and organic". He has gathered together some of the country's finest producers including the superb O'Shea's butchers.
We tried delicious salmon from Hansen and Lyderson, the best tomatoes from The Tomato Stall and bought some incredible cheese from The Bath Soft Cheese Company.
Deborah from Doe Leather had told me about the market, and she is part of the equally beautiful Slow Living section, which last weekend included beautiful textiles from Waffle Design and accessories from Mar Mar Co.
What makes the market especially impressive is the way that it is curated, with bales of hay, heavy wooden tables and hessian covers on every stall. It's hard to believe that you're actually in central London!
Open every Sunday 10 30 am to 3pm
